She always tells me that we need to not too seriously about everything... be indulgence with ourselves and be a fool sometimes! :)
Awesome giveaway Jo - I would not mind winning this one!
My mom taught me to use my sense of humor as a coping mechanism. It worked!

How neat that you have Mother's day giveaways! I don't really get a big celebration because all the celebration around that weekend is centered around my daughter's birthday which is a great Mother's day gift in itself of course :) I am teaching my daughter right now how to value her friendships.
My mom taught me to enjoy the kitchen and that food always taste better when you share... Thanks mom for all the wonderful recipes and times in the kitchen.
My Mom taught me to put the lovin' in my cooking, and that family is important.
My mom taught me how to be organized and plan ahead, which definitely comes in handy!
Fabulous giveaway but I'm not in US…, no matter I'll put it my next post about giveaways!
Wow, my mom's pretty wise, so this was a tough question.... I suppose the best piece of advise was to never go to bed angry and always talk positively about my husband to other people. Great giveaway! rcrouchfamily@wildblue.net
my mom dropped a lot wisdom on me when i was growing up, but one of the very best things she taught me was how to make noodles. it takes so much time and patience, but it's totally worth it and it impresses the pants off anyone who eats my chicken noodle soup.
My mom taught me to be a pack-rat. I'm thankful for this only because I don't contribute as much junk to the landfills as I probably would if I didn't try to save or repurpose everything! :)
My mother taught me the value of goodness;how to be it and find it in every person regardless of who, where, what and when. The younger you begin your "goodness" life, the easier it is.

My mom told me to never date boys who wear baseball hats...oddly enough, it's proven to be good advice.
On a more food-related note, my mom also told me to always try everything on my plate, even if I only had a bite or two...this advice went a long way in helping me remain open to new flavors, textures and concepts. Thanks, Mom!
And thanks, Jo, for another great giveaway!

In terms of cooking, my mom told me to experiment. The only way to find out if a combination of ingredients works is to do put them together. So I do. :-)
Thanks for the giveaway!

My mom endlessly repeated, "Love one another." Though her comments were largely in reference to sibling bickering, I'm struck by how often the phrase comes into my head when conflict arises. Now if only ALL moms could do that.... =)

My Grandma always taught us to use up what we had leftover, so, we always had a soup night.

Heh, that would probably be "you don't have to like it, you just have to do it." :D
What an awesome giveaway! My mom taught me how to cook and I am passing it on to my boys. It was a great compliment to hear my oldest from college say that he missed my cooking!

My mom always taught me that sharing is the best part of food preparation and to not get tied down to a recipe(use your imagination and have fun)
My mom NEVER let me believe for one moment that I couldn't do whatever I set my mind to do. In a world that tells women that they are "less" -- and that life is hard -- I grew up truly believing that I could do anything. Priceless.
my mother used to say "redheads and curly girls" when i didn't want something i already had. - it reminded me that i was probably lucky to have it. you see, redheads don't want to be red but others do, and girls with envious curls want straight hair. writeifyougetwork@yahoo.com
Never go to bed angry
I can hear my mom saying, "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it."
The most important bit of wisdom my mom gave me was to always be grateful for what you have, not grouchy of what you do not have. We didn't always have a lot when I was growing up so we appreciated everything and I still do appreciate everything which makes me even more excited when I do get things I would like to have by working for them, or when I get a great gift from a family member or friend. I try to pass this on to my kids and so far it works good, they are not constantly begging for everything under the sun because they are thankful for what they already have.

My mom taught me about the importance of eating fruits and veggies .. and she always made them taste great too. Maybe that's why I became a dietitian and a big-time foodie.

My mom lived a life that exemplified a meek and quiet spirit--never saw her angry at anyone. She also was an outstanding cook and I inherited the love of all things food from her.

Great Giveaway! My mom taught me how to cook from scratch and manage a kitchen. I'm thankful for both of those skills.

My mom taught me to be independent and self sufficient.
My mom always said "This too shall pass" -
if it's a good thing, enjoy it; if it's bad, it will be over soon. jmjwatkins@juno.com
My mom is the proverbial duck. Things just slide of her and she doesn't get shook up emotionally. Unfortunately this trait was not passed on to me. My grandmother though passed on her love of gardening, and I would have to say my mother passed on her love of animals, and how tender life is and how to treat living creatures with great care. Wish we could all be that way. Susan
