New Red Robin Interactive Allergen Menu and $25 Gift Card Giveaway

My youngest with our "Towering Onion Rings" appetizer

Did you know that May is National Allergy Awareness Month? Food allergies and sensitivities are something near and dear to me because there is more than one person in our family that suffers from them. Luckily, my family doesn't deal with anything that is truly life threatening, but our sensitivities can make dining out difficult because sometimes it's hard to find the right thing to eat or to know how the food is prepared and if it was exposed to one of the allergens from another dish. To say I was excited when I was approached to try out Red Robin's new "Interactive Allergen Menu" is an understatement.

If you go to the "Interactive Allergen Menu" on the Red Robin website, you can plan your meal ahead and tailor it to your specific allergy or sensitivity! It's great! Once you get to your local Red Robin, all you have to do is alert your server of your particular allergy or sensitivity and they can help guide you.

Red Robin trains all restaurant Team Members to allow guests to modify their Red Robin food or beverage order to suit their taste or dietary preferences. If a guest has a food allergy, the Red Robin team member will ring in the order with an allergy alert so it is clear on the table order.

This allergen alert appears in easily noticeable bright, red and bold letters on the order and notifies the kitchen that a special allergen kit is required for the order. Red Robin uses allergen kits to prepare all allergen orders. The kits include tools that are for use on allergen orders only and are purple to clearly distinguish them from other kitchen tools. Purple is the color of Allergen Awareness.

The best part was how good the food and service were. None of us felt like we were missing out at Red Robin. Sometimes those of us with food sensitivities end up feeling cheated when we go out for a meal because we can't just have anything off the menu and navigating a menu when you don't know how the dishes are made is downright frustrating. Our visit to Red Robin was pleasant, because I knew I didn't have to worry about one of us consuming something we shouldn't. And the food was amazing. Fresh and juicy burgers, bottomless fries, impeccable service and a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

We indulged while on this visit and got a couple appetizers, our entrees and then dessert too. A spurge for us, as we tend to eat at home more than anything. It was a fun mid week dinner out in part because of the super fun ambiance. On each table there is a tablet type screen where you can order refills on your drinks, order dessert, play games and even choose the music that plays in the restaurant (there is a nominal fee for the games and music.) The kids loved that! We played a couple trivia games while we waited for our food and it really made the whole experience a true family affair. The other thing we really enjoyed were the amazing non alcoholic drink selections and the glasses they were served in. Fun flavors in funky glassware... just those small touches that make it special.

  1. I'm planning a blog post in support of NAAM. =0)
My youngest son has some food allergies (it used to be worse when he was a baby). He's grown out of some of the allergies, but there are still lots of things he can't eat.

    1. PS - for the giveaway: My son would probably choose the mac n cheese.

  2. The smoke and pepper burger with no bun is my best option. Soy is in EVERYTHING!

  3. Red Robin is one of our favorite restuarants - I love the Chicken Caesar Wrap and would order that....

  4. This is good to know about Red Robin! So many friends are now gluten-free and have various dairy and wheat sensitivities. Great post!

  5. Thankfully we aren't dealing with any food allergies in my house, so I'd order smoke and pepper burger with a bun. And after seeing the picture of your onion ring tower, I'd get one of those, too.

  6. Very informative. Thank you!

  7. pleas pick me i have never been there before

  8. The Chicken Caesar wrap sounds awesome! Thank you for the new menu - my grandson is Autistic and this new menu has some great choices for him!A!!!

  9. This is GREAT to know. My son is highly allergic to peanuts, so we do have to be careful. I know we would HAVE to try those onion rings... the roasted Jalepeno coins look delicious as well... The Prime Rib Dip is also making my mouth water right now...

  10. Love that glass! I'm glad you got to sample so many treats without worrying about food allergies.

  11. I would choose the simply grilled chicken sandwich.

  12. I had no idea that May was allergy awareness month or that the color for allergy awareness is purple. Thanks for teaching me something new today. I LOVE Red Robin and was actually thinking of asking my hubz if he wanted to go there for dinner tonight even before I saw your post. Mmmmm. This cinches it!

  13. We LOVE our local Red Robin!! I have sensitivity to gluten. I can eat it, but will sometimes break out in hives. It is good to know that I have alternative choices on the menu. I also did not know May was Allergen Awareness month. My daughter has developed a pretty severe allergy to scent of perfume, cologne, and hand sanitizer. She has a hard time going out to places where there will be a lot of people because so many people use so much of it.

  14. I would probably try the Avo Cobb salad.. Since I can tolerate some gluten I would keep the blue cheese and maybe just skip the garlic bread.

  15. I would like california chicken sandwich.

  16. The honest hummus plate

    Debnmike moretti

  17. The interactive menu suggested any of the fire grilled burgers on wheat bun or the kids menu items. Great tool.

  18. Lovely food! Really mouthwatering.

  19. I would order Teriyaki Chicken sandwich with no mayo and no swiss cheese.

  20. I would get the Santa Fe Burger with onion rings!!!

  21. I would most like to customize the Whiskey River BBQ Burger

  22. I would order a Prime Rib Dip.

  23. I would order the Baja Turkey Club with no texas toast from their allergen menu.
